Getting started
Welcome to VidiReserve. To get you up and running quickly, an onboarding checklist on your dashboard guides you through setup step by step β from your master data to your first real reservation. This chapter explains how the checklist works and the best order to tackle it in.
What the checklist does
The Getting started card on the dashboard shows your progress as a bar and as a checklist. VidiReserve ticks off completed steps automatically: some steps count as done as soon as real data exists (for example once you have created tables), others as soon as you have opened the relevant page once. You never need to tick anything by hand.
The three groups
The steps are sorted into three groups that you work through in this order:
- Set up β the basics: profile, hours, tables or events, booking rules, widget and a test reservation.
- Daily operations β the views you use every day: reservation list, day view, calendar, messages and the guest database.
- Getting more out of it β optional features such as events, coupons, statistics, reviews, marketing, staff and the partner app.
The setup assistant
If you prefer to be guided, start the setup assistant: open the Getting started panel (the round button in the bottom right) and press Start setup assistant. It also starts automatically once you remove the sample data.
The assistant shows a slim bar along the bottom of the screen with your progress (Setup 3/8), the current step and a Do it now button that takes you straight to the right page. If you are already on that page, the bar tells you it will tick the step off automatically instead. Optional steps β the widget, your Google listing and the test reservation β can be put aside with Skip; required steps cannot.
The × on the right ends the assistant at any time; you can resume it later from the Getting started panel. Once every step is done, View summary opens an overview of all required and optional items and β if everything required is in place β the View live page button.
The first time you open the dashboard a short tour also runs, pointing out the menu, the help button, the getting-started panel and your user menu. Use Restart tour in that panel to see it again whenever you like.
Recommended order
For a smooth start we recommend:
- Complete your profile and photos.
- Enter your opening hours and closures.
- Create sections and tables (for event providers: your first event).
- Check your booking rules (slots, lead time, confirmation mode).
- Embed the reservation widget on your website.
- Make a test reservation and cancel it again.
Signing in without a password (passkey). As an owner or administrator you can sign in with Face ID, your fingerprint or your device PIN instead of a password. Set this up via the user menu in the top right under Passkeys using Add passkey. The sign-in page then shows the Sign in with a passkey button. A passkey only works on the device you create it on β unless your keychain syncs it.
Free setup assistance
Would you rather walk through setup together? Onboarding is free with every plan. Request it via the My Subscription page or via Messages β we will get in touch and set up the most important points with you.
For event providers
As an event provider you see a slightly different checklist: instead of "create tables" your central step is create your first event, and the test booking checks an event registration instead of a table reservation. Steps that only apply to restaurants (tables, floor plan, waitlist) are hidden for you automatically.
